2021Beginning Season
My visual interpretation of one of the first spring flowers of the year – the winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis), which is not really native in our region, it is a woodland inhabitant in France, Italy and the Balkan, but it has naturalized in many parts of Europe. The species name „hyemalis“ means winter flowering in Latin, and its flowers really live a life on the edge – between warming spring sun and deep frost. It is blooming already from January to March. For me it is always a good feeling, when I can spot them – it means an end of winter is in sight.
