Birth or End?

A four-spotted chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata) has just emerged from its larvae stadium. Therefor the larvae leaves the water and comes up on some reed or plant and it seems to be a little wonder that a ready dragonfly comes out. The newborn insect needs a lot of time to get its wings ready to fly, in this time it is very vulnerable against predators. The four spots on the wings, wich give the name, cannot be seen very clearly until the wings are fully dried up. The larvae lives submerged for one ore two years and after leaving the water the last stadium of its life begins for reproducing and laying eggs into the water for the next generation. So you can decide if it is a birth or the end. Simply the circle of life.
