The Mountain Alcon Blue / Maculinea rebeli is one of the most endangered butterflies in Europe due to its special environmental requirements. For the one hand, it is dependent on his reproduction of Gentiana cruciata, and on the other hand, it is dependent on special ants for the development. Fortunately, there are still sites where it exists and there are some projects dedicated to the protection of the plants and the butterflies. At one of these locations I was lucky to photograph a female on the buds of a plant – and if you inspect the picture you can find a few of the deposited eggs 🙂

Der Kreuzenzian-Ameisen-Bläuling / Maculinea rebeli zählt infolge seiner besonderen Ansprüche zu dem am meisten gefährdetsten Tagfalter in Europa. Einerseits ist er für seine Fortpflanzung von dem namensgebenden Kreuzenzian / Gentiana cruciata, er legt ausschließlich auf ihn seine Eier ab, und andererseits von den für die Entwicklung wichtigen Wirts-Ameisen abhängig.
Glücklicherweise gibt es noch Standorte an denen er vorkommt und einige Projekte, die sich dem Schutz der Pflanzen und den Faltern widmen.
Auf einem dieser Standorte hatte ich vor kurzem das Glück ein Weibchen auf den Knospen des Kreuzenzians fotografieren zu können – und wenn du das Bild genau betrachtest kannst du ein paar der abgelegten Eier finden 🙂
