Sun Blaze

The Spring Adonis (Adonis vernalis) lives on steppe grasslands in Austria’s Pannonian climate regions. Primarily its distribution area was in the Altai Mountains and in Siberia. It reached Europe at the end of the last ice age by the influence of men like forest clearing and grazing, and therefore creating new habitats for the plants. The flower opens its calyx only in bright sunlight. It has a medical history because of its cardio-effective glycosides, which are high toxic when overdosed. Nowadays it is an endangered species and strictly protected.
