As I discovered this location, I was instantly thinking of it when there’s some snow, the soft light of dawn and a common kingfisher as a topping somewhere in the frame. I went back there quite a few times since then and could observe a kingfisher for two times on this particular branch. There was only one day that winter with snow in this floodplains and I was lucky enough that this very kind kingfisher placed himself perfect on this branch for a few seconds. I had choosen the frame already before, but since my autofocus didn’t catch it, I also did a few manually focused shots and ended up with just one sharp image. It’s not often that I get exactely the frame in my camera I was thinking of and hoping for, but this time I could picture what I wanted. The Common Kingfisher in its winterly and icy habitat.
